OUR STORY
The VUUR concept was born from a love of cooking with fire and in April 2022 a small converted stable opened its doors to diners for the first time. The original VUUR was created and its following grew and became known for its story telling, homely service, good food and amazing wines.

As VUUR only served one table per day in a total private dining experience, we saw the need to share our homely service and love for fire with more diners. We identified a small island in a dam just next to VUUR and saw this as a prime location to create another unique dining experience. We chatted to Chris and Rob, the brothers in charge of Remhoogte Wine Estate, and they told us how they played on this little island when they were children and always called it Goose Island. We saw it fitting to keep the legacy of this little island and continue the name. We slowly but surely started building on this little island and set up VUUR Goose Island.

This unique fire cooking restaurant offers diners to join in on our Shared Chef's Table Experience with one big table for 16 diners to join us on a journey of food and wine. We also give two diners the possibility of joining in on our Chef's Counter and sit very close to the action and see how our chefs go to work.
